About the Project

This is a multipage project by me, CDAS, and Sim. The project had been in planning over a couple of years but finally won form in Summer 2006. Sim is a traditional Thai artist whose focus is in decorating and renovating temples, CDAS understands himself as a modern digital medium artist whose basis has been for years in photography. It is in the interest of Sim and CDAS to promote Thailand and its culture by using the medium of the internet. We hope that you will enjoy these pages and help us promoting them. TAPS

TAPS stands for Thai Art Presentation Shop, the project is located on Bangkok's Jatujak (Chatuchak) weekend market near Mo Chit Skytrain station in section 8, Soi 14/3. The shop offers spiritual and contemporary art by rising young Thai artists, Thai handicrafts and more interesting things. It is a good spot to make a good deal on not yet expensive art which ill gain much more value over the years as these artists are probably members of a coming new generation of marvellous Asian painters.

Digital art by CDAS

The here displayed artwork by CDAS are some of the artworks that he has created on the basis of Sim's traditional Thai art. CDAS has been before active in Germany and on the European scene for the last 15 years using mainly the medium of photography and design. The works here display a new area of his activities turning Thai sculpturing into a digital art medium.

Tempelart by Sim

Sim is definetely one of Thailand's female top artists of Tempelart. She has decorated and renovated many temples all over the country. The designs are all original own creations based on the works of old masters. She is in control of the whole working progress, starting from the first drafts on paper, over the modelling of the plastics until the final installation.

History

The history of a country contributes to the characteristics of the art of a country. Thailand's history goes back to the bronze ages and has been dominant for large parts of South East Asia for a few centuries. CDAS has been writing a series of textbooks for a famous school in Bangkok about the history of the country and will soon give insight views here on the internet.

Geography

The conditions of the climate, the geology and the changes of the natural environment have created different cultures all over the world. So, the geography of a country is very important for the establishment of art as well. The geography usually does not only mean the natural environment alone anymore but also the society which is based on it.

Regional

The different regions of Thailand have given the development different impulses. Besides, that Thailand is a country of many cultural attractions, the different regions of the country make it an enjoyable place to stay and make it nearly impossible to feel bored here. Therefor, please enjoy also the different surroundings being offered to you.

Recreation

Nobody actually can be expected only to enjoy the intellectual sides of a country and Thailand has much to offer for the person who just wants to relax. There are many different opportunities that the visitor can enjoy such as sports or the culinary sides of the country.

Pictures

The promotion of a country by text can be fun and enjoyable, still we think that to anything there should be pictures so that you can get a deeper impression. A gallery is especially necessary for an art project as art is itself already visual.
